President's Message

Dear Barefoot Kin,

Another year has gone by fast, and it is that time to make plans for our family reunion. This is an exciting year being the 90th year for the Barefoot Family to gather together.

I want to thank those ancestors who have diligently kept track of our growing families and passed the information on, especially my grandmother Elizabeth Krise Hott and my Aunt Eleanor Hott Kinnan who were dedicated genealogists. Without all of the records our ancestors kept, we would not be able to identify a fraction of our family. Thanks to Sylvia Coleman and Gary Mickle for all the hours they spent in gathering this family info together and publishing it into book form. It is amazing to see just whom we are related to.

Thanks to each and everyone of you who support the reunion, either by attending or sending donations to see that it continues each year.

We are working on a commemorative book honoring our past ancestors that will be available for purchase. Thank you to my aunt, Sylvia Sonneborn, and to Sylvia Coleman for all the work they have put into developing the 90th Barefoot Reunion Commemorative Book for 2007. 1918 is counted as #1, not 0, so by 2007, we have arrived at 90 reunions.
We are working on entering Barefoot Reunion information on a website. Because of identity theft being so prevalent, we will be careful about the information that we publish. I have typed up all of the old minutes and death notices that we have found from past reunions to place on the website. This is a work in progress and takes a great deal of time to enter everything. I am hoping that we will have a partial site up and running by the year’s end.
If you have additions to your family, please let us know so we can keep the family records up to date. Please send us obituaries from your family also. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of you at the reunion this year. Till then, enjoy your summer.

Vicki Erdley
Barefoot Reunion Association President 2007
